Samuel Curwen (1715-1802) was an American Loyalist, merchant, and lawyer from Salem, Massachusetts. During the American Revolution, Curwen fled to England, fearing for his safety. He is perhaps best-known for his detailed diary and other handwritten materials which show the American Loyalist perspective. After becoming disillusioned with Parliment's policies and attitude toward the American colonies, Curwen returned to his home in Salem.
