Añadir al carrito[Literature] FIRST ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDITION. Octavo (23 x 16cm), pp.xiv; [2]; 211; [1]. Title page lettered in red and black. Pictorial paper over boards. Publisher's grey cloth, with gilt titles, to spine. With the dust-jacket matching paper boards priced at 21s to upper. Top edge gilt, the rest untrimmed. Interior lightly toned with a few areas faintly marked/spotted. Offsetting to endpapers. Minor dust damage to top edge, the rest somewhat toned. Light toning and bumping to paper board extremities. Dust-jacket in poor condition with spine toned and extremities heavily torn. Good overall. The editor's note states that Le Cousin de Mahomet was 'first published in Paris in 1742. So as far as can be ascertained, this story has never been translated into English until now.' The book, originally claiming to be an historical document, follows a French schoolboy captured by the Turks.
