Still a solid and perfectly readable copy of this reprinting of the 1857 edition that tells of the author's experimentation with hashish in the vein of de Quincey's Confessions of an English Opium Eater.

Octavo. 371pp. Publisher's olive-green cloth stamped in black on front cover, gilt spine. Light wear to the edges of the boards, two leaves at the back a bit roughly opened, about near fine. The frontispiece, here titled: "Visions of a Hasheesh Eater" is a doctored version of Beardsley's "Of a Neophyte and how the Black Art was revealed unto him by the Fiend Asomuel" and the title page is a doctored version of Beardsley's "The Kiss of Judas". An attractive copy.
