Hardcover. Condición: Good. First Edition. (no dust jacket) [a solid copy, but dampstained along the lower spine extending onto both covers; internal staining is very light in the gutters; small piece torn away at edge of pp.209/210]. INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the co-author on the front endpaper: "For Dick Goldstone / Who could fi…nn-out / with the best of 'em / Johnny Monks." Filmed by Warner Bros. in 1938, with Eddie Albert (the only member of the Broadway cast to repeat his role, in his film debut), and followed up with a sequel (BROTHER RAT AND A BABY) in 1940, and a Technicolor musical adaptation (ABOUT FACE) in 1952. Playwrights Monks and Finklehoffe were both former VMI cadets. NOTE regarding the cast signatures: the actors' signatures appear next to 13 of the 16 character names listed in the book -- but these are NOT the signatures of the original Broadway cast members. Rather, they appear to be the players in some regional theatre production of the play; none of the names are recognizable to me, nor are the three additonal signatures (probably crew or production people) that appear on the preceding page. Signed by Collection of Signatures.
