Bellissimo esemplare, fresco e ad ampi margini. Rara edizione originale, stampata quasi due secoli dopo la morte dell'autore. Interessante riscostruzione storiografica dei fatti politici, civili e militari della città di Firenze, dal Medio Evo al Rinascimento. Iniziata a scrivere nel 1534, l'opera fu terminata nel 1549, su diretta sollecitazione di Cosimo I de' Medici. F. de' Nerli (Firenze 1485-1556), senatore e storico fiorentino, si formò nell'ambiente degli Orti Oricellari, dove conobbe il Machiavelli. Perseguitato ed imprigionato per le sue posizioni filomedicee durante la restaurazione repubblicana a Firenze, al ritorno al potere dei Medici, riguadagnò la libertà e riprese l'attività politica. Membro del Consiglio dei Dugento e del Senato dei Quarantotto, nonchè ambasciatore a Roma e capitano a Pistoia, negli ultimi anni della sua vita. Cfr. Moreni II, 119. Gamba, 1535.
