Hardcover. 10th edition. [1],54 p. + 4 leaves (blank; prospectus for The Brunswick, or, true blue, 2 leaves; advt.); 21 cm. Sig. on p.[1]: Wm. Scrivener [bound with] Blacow, Richard. The substance of a discourse, preached in St. Mark's Church, Liverpool, on Sunday evening, Nov. 26th, 1820, by the Rev. Richard Blacow, A.M. on the aspect of the times. Fourth edition, with additional notes; and an appendix bearing on the Radical question. London: printed for, and published by Mr. Wright.; Johnson, printer, Liverpool. [1821?] 32 p. -- For the passages - `The term "cowardly," which they have now laid to my charge, I think you will do me the justice to say, does not belong to me--that feeling was never an inmate of my bosom; neither when the Jacobins raged around us with all their fury; nor in the present day of Radical uproar and delusion. The latter, indeed, it must be allowed, have one feature about them, even more hideous and disgusting than the Jacobins themselves. They fell down and worshipped the Goddess of Reason--a most respectable and decent sort of Being, compared with that which the Radicals have set up, as the idol of their worship. They have elevated the GODDESS OF LUST on the PEDESTAL of SHAME.' (p. 9), and `I used her name [Caroline] in the Liturgy, in this very reading desk, under a persuasion at the time, that the foul charges then in circulation against her, were not founded in truth; and, not knowing all the circumstances of the case, I deemed the authorized omission of that name somewhat harsh. But subsequent events and proceedings have too painfully convinced me of the reality of her guilt. of the grievous sin of adultery. under circumstances the most base, shameful, and disgusting.' (p. 11) - he was convicted of libel in 1821. Good chipped quarter green morocco. Sig. lipped from title-page. vignette: royal arms (ilustrador).…

Coupon Cookery was written in 1943 by "Prudence Penny." I put Ms. Penny in quotations, because she was not just one person, but dozens. Beginning in 1920, "Prudence Penny" was the food columnist featured in Hearst newspapers across the country, which included the New York Daily Mirror, where Florence Richardson worked as Ms. Penny. Richardson was probably the Prudence Penny who wrote Coupon Cookery. Unfortunately, there is little information on Richardson. However, what is a Hearst newspaper? A Hearst newspaper is a newspaper that was under the control of the legendary William Randolph Hearst and his media company. Hearst entered the world of printing in 1887 by becoming the proprietor of the San Francisco Examiner. By the 1920s, Hearst's (now 28) newspapers accounted for almost 25% of American newspaper readership. Among his innovations to printing were the first comics in color. Hearst and his company also published magazines, such as Good Housekeeping, and later branched out to newsreels, radio, and TV. (kennesaw.edu)The book is in good condition, some slight staining of the boards. The pages are clean with only the front endpapers having some discolouration. The dustjacket is badly chipped with some staining.…
