Subsequently they had to go on foot to Mauthausen, and finally they were liberated in Gunskirchen, Austria on May 4, 1945. Using flash-back technique Lazarovits remembers his childhood in Szilagysomlyo (Romania), school years in the Kolozsvar (Cluj) (Romania) tarbut (Hebrew-language school), his membership in Hashomer Hatzair, and leftist political organizations.
