Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This volume explores the period encompassing the War of 1812 and its aftermath through 1828, a transformative epoch in early U.S. history. It begins with the causes of the war Britain s naval blockades, impressment of American sailors, and frontier tensions and chronicles key battles such as the defense of the Capitol, the burning of Washington, and Andrew Jackson's rise at New Orleans. The final peace, sealed by the Treaty of Ghent in December 1814, restored pre-war borders and ushered in the Era of Good Feelings, marked by a surge of nationalism, political unity after the decline of the Federalists, and economic expansion. Overall, this collection offers a rich blend of first-person accounts and historical analysis, illuminating how a brief war reshaped America s national identity, financial systems, foreign policy, and political landscape in the decades that followed.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. No Jacket. Great Epochs in American History, Vol. III: The French War and the Revolution 1745 1782, edited by Francis W. Halsey, is a historical volume that delves into pivotal events in American history during the mid-18th century. This volume is part of a ten-book series titled Great Epochs in American History, which presents significant periods in American history through the writings of notable authors. King George's War (1744 1748): The volume examines the military operations in North America that formed part of the War of the Austrian Succession. Known as King George's War, this conflict involved British America and the Wabanaki Confederacy, with significant actions such as the siege and capture of the French fortress of Louisbourg in 1745. The war ended with the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748, which restored Louisbourg to France, leading to dissatisfaction among New Englanders who had contributed heavily to the expedition. French and Indian War (1754 1763): The volume delves into the French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years' War, which was a pivotal conflict between Britain and France in North America. The war had profound effects on the American colonies, leading to increased British debt and subsequent taxation measures that contributed to colonial discontent. Colonial Resistance and Revolutionary Sentiments: The book explores the growing resistance among American colonists to British policies, including the Stamp Act, Townshend Acts, and the Intolerable Acts. These measures sparked widespread protests and the development of a distinct American identity, setting the stage for the Revolutionary War. The American Revolution (1775 1783): The volume provides an in-depth look at the Revolutionary War, detailing key battles, strategies, and figures that shaped the conflict. It examines the military, political, and diplomatic efforts that led to American independence.

Halsey, offers a comprehensive narrative of the United States during a transformative period. This volume, part of a ten-book series, delves into the nation's evolution from the end of Reconstruction through the early 20th century. Key Themes: Political Landscape: The era witnessed the end of Reconstruction and the emergence of a reunited nation. Technological innovations, such as the telephone and electric light, revolutionized daily life and commerce. The expansion of the railroad network facilitated national connectivity and economic integration. FORMER OWNERS LABEL IN FRONT. TIGHT AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT. FOR THE LOVER OF HISTORY, CATHOLIC HISTORY AND CARDINAL WOLSEY. 11 CHAPTERS WITH GREAT DETAIL. Thomas Wolsey (c. March 1473 - 29 November 1530) was an English statesman and Catholic cardinal. When Henry VIII became King of England in 1509, Wolsey became the king's almoner. Wolsey's affairs prospered and by 1514 he had become the controlling figure in virtually all matters of state. He also held important ecclesiastical appointments. These included the Archbishop of York?the second most important role in the English church?and that of papal legate. His appointment as a cardinal by Pope Leo X in 1515 gave him precedence over all other English clergy. The highest political position Wolsey attained was Lord Chancellor, the king's chief adviser (formally, as his successor and disciple Thomas Cromwell was not). In that position, he enjoyed great freedom and was often depicted as the alter rex ("other king"). ANTIQUE BOOKS DEN, WHERE HISTORY LIVES.

FORMER OWNERS LABEL IN FRONT. TIGHT AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT. FOR THE LOVER OF HISTORY AND RUSSIA. 15 CHAPTERS WITH GREAT DETAIL. Peter I (Russian; 9 June 1672 - 8 February 1725), commonly known as Peter the Great, was Tsar of all Russia from 1682, and the first Emperor of all Russia from 1721 until his death in 1725. He reigned jointly with his half-brother Ivan V until 1696. From this year, Peter was an absolute monarch, an autocrat who remained the ultimate authority. Most of Peter's reign was consumed by long wars against the Ottoman and Swedish Empires. Despite initial difficulties, the wars were ultimately successful and led to expansion to the Sea of Azov and the Baltic Sea, thus laying the groundwork for the Imperial Russian Navy. FORMER OWNERS LABEL IN FRONT. TIGHT AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT. FOR THE LOVER OF HISTORY, CATHOLIC HISTORY AND CARDINAL RICHELIEU. 10 CHAPTERS WITH GREAT DETAIL. Armand Jean du Plessis, 1st Duke of Richelieu 9 September 1585 - 4 December 1642), known as Cardinal Richelieu, was a French statesman and prelate of the Catholic Church. He became known as l'Éminence rouge, or "the Red Eminence", a term derived from the title "Eminence" applied to cardinals and from the red robes that they customarily wear. Consecrated a bishop in 1607, Richelieu was appointed Foreign Secretary in 1616. He continued to rise through the hierarchy of both the Catholic Church and the French government, becoming a cardinal in 1622 and chief minister to King Louis XIII of France in 1624. He retained that office until his death in 1642, when he was succeeded by Cardinal Mazarin, whose career he had fostered. Richelieu became engaged in a bitter dispute with Marie de Médici, the king's mother, and formerly his close ally. ANTIQUE BOOKS DEN, WHERE HISTORY LIVES.
