Dec. 1975 which reads: "Dear Hamish, You don't have to read it: please me by accepting it for Christmas in a year during which you yourself & your firm have shown me great kindness. Sincerely, Eric". Also includes an Andre Deutsch advertisement pamphlet addressed to Hamish with Partridge's annotations and recommendations tucked inside. Spine of dust jacket a bit sunned, a near fine copy. Eric Honeywood Partridge (6 February 1894 1 June 1979) was a New ZealandBritish lexicographer of the English language, particularly of its slang. His writing career was interrupted only by his service in the Army Education Corps and the RAF correspondence department during World War II.
