The book centers on a grandmother relating to her grandchildren the story of their uncle (Phil) during the Civil War… and explaining each of the actual diary excerpts. The book's exterior has four very slightly worn corners and very lightly worn areas at the top and bottom of the spine. The interior book, however, has no visible extraneous markings, distractions or detriments and thus all of its printing is in a very well-preserved and enjoyable condition and the book's sewn-in bindings remain tight and therefore would be sound.
