Reddish-orange cloth with light scuffing to spine ends and board corner tips; spine's black and gilt stamping remains vibrant. Text block edges foxed. Author's six-line ink inscription "For | Louise Crigler | With warm regards | Sara Dodge Kimbrough | May 1979 | Beauvoir, Mississippi" upon front free endpaper; some interior foxing and a few small stains at page margins. Binding is firm. With three sections of b/w and color plates on unpaged leaves, Acknowledgements, and Index. Kimbrough reviews her father, muralist William de Leftwich Dodge (1867-1935), as well as sculptors George Grey Barnard (1863-1938) and Frederick William MacMonnies (1863-1937) and noted art instructor and painter George Brant Bridgman (1864-1943).
