Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. Since 2005, Corinne Vionnet has been working on mass tourism and the massive circulation of images. Paris Paris Paris follows on from the seriesthat made her famous. After studying several destinations, the artist turned her attention to one of the most photographed cities, and found numeroussites and monuments that feed an uninterrupted flow of images. The Swiss artist transforms the raw material she works with: standardized snapshots of hyper-frequented places that feed social networks. Her images, which reveal nothing of the considerable work involved in their creation (archive research, crowdsourcing and collage), question our collective memory and tourist behavior. Why do we always take and share the same images? Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Total Flag gives an account of the metamorphoses undergone by photography as a result of repeated reproduction. The American flag is the first subject-object to have been placed under Vionett's microscope. It is an historical emblem whose symbolism is complex; a familiar, ubiquitous icon. Corinne Vionnet: An image on a screen. photographed. put back on the screen.photographed again and again and again. To the point of total disappearance, evanescence, evaporation. The durably exciting thing about Vionnet s Total Flag is that it can be read equally well on two distinct levels. It is both a meticulous artistic study of the effects of iterative image recursion and an archly biting roadmap of the where America might be heading, its abstractions just open-ended enough to allow us to extend the visual evidence of the experiment into a searing visual metaphor for national degradation. Constructing such smart artistic duality isn t easy, especially using such a simple organizing device. Total Flag is just what it needs to be and no more an incisive mixture of technology and artistic thought that alternately delivers both beauty and horror. A brilliant work to keep and spectacular to gift. The durably exciting thing about Vionnet s Total Flag is that it can be read equally well on two distinct levels. Añadir al carritoPaperback in dust jacket. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good-. First Edition. Color Photos; Oblong large 8vo 10" tall; 80 pages; 2011 Kehrer Verlag. Oblong format paperback in color pictorial dust jacket. Tightly bound in gray card stock covers with titles in pale gray and block. The color photo dust jacket appears to fold out into a poster image, but was engineered without flaps and possibly applied with glue at the spine by the binder. Naturally, a fust jacket without flaps is going to want to slide off the book when place on the shelf, as there is no anchor at the front edge. This has been the case here as the jacket is a little stressed and worn from sliding off the book. Illustrated with reproductions of the photographer's assembled color photos of landmark touristed sites, and with an essay by Madeline Yale. VG++ in VG- dust jacket. Scarce.
