Rather than presenting theory in the abstract, the book centres on verbatim transcripts of constellations conducted with numerous couples, supplemented by questions, commentary and discussion that illuminate a process often difficult to convey on the page. Johannes Neuhauser's editorial hand brings clarity and shape to material that is by nature experiential and multidimensional. The constellations typically move through two stages: first, hidden yet compelling influences on the partnership - often rooted in earlier family systems - are brought to light; second, healing movements and reconciling statements are explored and tested within the constellation itself. Hellinger addresses a wide range of themes with characteristic directness, including love, suffering, bonding, the balance of giving and taking, parenthood, childlessness, faithfulness, separation and sexuality. Central to the work is Hellinger's observation that couples are shaped by dynamics reaching well beyond the two individuals involved. Unresolved loyalties, excluded family members and systemic imbalances all exert a quiet pull on intimate relationships. The transcripts allow the reader to follow how these entanglements surface and how resolution can emerge through acknowledgement and reordering. For therapists, counsellors and individuals interested in relational and systemic approaches, the book remains a valuable primary source - offering direct access to Hellinger's method and voice in one of the areas where his work has had the most enduring impact. …
