Among these artists were Maxfield Parrish, the renowned American illustrator, and his father, Stephen; Augustus Saint-Gaudens, sculptor and designer of United States coins; Charles A. Platt, etcher, painter, landscape artist, and architect; and artists Thomas Dewing, George de Forest Brush, Henry O. Walker, John White Alexander, Everett Shinn, William Henry Hyde, and Willard Metcalf. Winston Churchill, one of the most popular American novelists of his day, lived in Cornish and rented his home to President Woodrow Wilson as a summer White House. This book captures the interactions between the artists, the community, and the beautiful Connecticut River Valley scenery. 525 pages, more than 150 illustrations, including color insert.
