By the end of the war he commanded a machine gun battalion as a lieutenant colonel and had been awarded 6 decorations, including the Victoria Cross. He served on Gallipoli, and fought at Pozieres, Mouquet Farm, the first battle of Bullecourt, Messines and Passchendaele. As an appendix, includes Murray's writings in Reveille.
