Leather. Condición: Fair. No Jacket. This copy is bound in a light brown leather with gilt lettering in a red leather spine label. There is some rubbing and light scratches of the covers, corner bumping with board beginning to show. Hinges and gutters are solid, will need careful handling. Interior text has yellowed with age, so…me foxing and shadowing. Many upper corners of the text were bent. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Page edges good condition top edge slightly darkened, all marbled. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition marbled with blind tooled dentelles. End papers good condition marbled, subsequent end papers tanned and foxed, the first free end paper with a personal hand written message dated Easter 1865. Title good condition lightly tanned and foxed. Pages good condition lightly tanned throughout, there is a small piece of page 211 missing to the fore edge margin. Binding good condition. See photos. He was also an amateur historian, one of the first to be invited by the Royal Society of Antiquarians to study then-newly-acquired by Britain Rosetta Stone, member of the British and Foreign Bible Society and the American Historical Institute and a Fellow of the American Antiquarian Society.
