Seinen Unterhalt verdient er - der über grafische Kenntnisse verfügte - mit dem Fälschen von Pässen und anderen überlebenswichtigen Papieren, mit denen sich Hunderte von Todgeweihten retten konnten. Fesselnd und zuverlässig berichtet Cioma Schönhaus, wie er sich als 20-jähriger Jude täglich durchschlagen musste und dabei sogar die Stirn besaß, sich von dem verdienten Geld, mit dem er als Verfolgter ansonsten nicht viel anfangen konnte, eine kleine Segeljacht auf dem Wannsee zu kaufen. Sein Bericht zeugt von Intelligenz und Einfallsreichtum, von Lebenslust und auch von Leichtsinn. Immer wieder gelang es ihm, durch das Netz der Verfolger hindurchzuschlüpfen. Schließlich kam ihm die Gestapo doch auf die Spur und suchte ihn steckbrieflich. Mit seinem Fahrrad gelang ihm die Flucht in die Schweiz - selbstverständlich mit eigens gefälschten Dokumenten.

Posleze na neho byl po udani gestapu vydan zatykac, nicmene 3. rijna 1943 se mu podarilo s pomoci padelanych dokumentu utect na kole do Svycarska, kde se dockal konce valky, vystudoval grafiku, germanistiku a psychologii a nakonec zalozil vlastni graficky atelier.
