The book has split along top 5cm of outside front hinge with some related rubbing, clean covers, lacking blank FFEP, owner name stamp on short-title pages and on bottom edge of text block otherwise no writing or marks on any pages, solid binding, no foxing. From the collection of Lute Jerstad with his name stamp on FFEP and on bottom of text block. Jerstad was the 12th or 13th person (roped with Barry Bishop) to climb to the summit of Mt Everest (assuming that neither Mallory or Irvine reached the top), being a summiting member of the 1963 American Everest Expedition, and the first to film on the top of Everest. He was also a university professor of Asian drama with specialization on the mountain cultures of Nepal, Tibet, India and Pakistan. He authored the book, Mani Rimdu, a treatise on the Sherpa dance drama celebrated annually in the Khumbu region near Mount Everest. He later created a trekking and outdoor adventure service, Lute Jerstad Adventure, offering guided trips in N America, the Himalaya, India and surrounding countries. The book measures 244mm tall x 172mm, and has 180 pages, 157 b/w photos, colored folding map. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.

Soft cover. Condición: Good. 286 pp. This copy belonged to Comtesse Philippa von Courten (1926-1946). She died in a skiing accident in Valais in the Swiss alps. The front free blank is signed by Philippa with a poem and has a personal, pencil note by her mother. Philippa had lent her copy to the sister of the author, Charles Gos. It was returned to her mother by Emile Gos ( Charles' brother) with a note on his photography business card about the return. Also included is a copy of En Confidence a 4 pp. revue with an article on Charles Gos. This isan Alpinist's treasure. Front cover detached, chipped. spine edges rubbed. Interior clean, untrimmed.
