Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition. Octavo. Bound in brown cloth covered hard boards and in the original dust jacket, un-clipped ($7.95). A graphic novel (of a very graphic film) presented as over 700 monochrome stills from the film with dialogue. Best described in Kubrick's foreword to the book: "I have always wondered if there might be a more meaningful way to present a book about a film. To make, as it were, a complete graphic representation of the film, cut by cut, with the dialogue printed in the proper place in relation to the cuts". The dust jacket recreates Philip Castle's film poster design for the Warner Brothers 1971 original film release. Fine book, clean and unmarked, in a Very Good Plus jacket which has a closed tear at the top of the spine and a vertical crease on the front flap.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 1st Edition. (BURGESS, Anthony and Stanley Kubrick) Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, based on the Novel by Anthony Burgess. Abelard-Schuman, 1971. 9"x 6", ca. 150 (unpaginated) pp. Cloth, with dustjacket. Fine copy in a VG dustjacket. This is basically the movie told in stills, with dialogue and narration. [++] SIGNED presentation by Burgess. Note: this book was signed for me by Burgess. Initially Mr. Burgess reacted viscerally--"Oh, THAT horrid thing", he said, and explained that he didn't want to sign it, it wasn't his movie. I did point out that it was his book, so he laughed, scribbled through Kubrick's name (on the title page) a bit, and signed it over. It is a nice story about Burgess and what he thought of the movie. Why am I selling it? I don't need this anymore, after probably 40 years--it is time for it to go elsewhere.

Añadir al carritoFirst edition of the book recreation of Stanley Kubrickâs epic film adaptation of Anthony Burgessâ dystopian masterpiece. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by Kubrick, âTo Mark Best wishes Stanley Kubrick.â Additionally signed by Anthony Burgess on the front free endpaper. Very good in a very good dust jacket with a few small closed tears. Books signed and inscribed by the legendary director are rare. The cinematic adaptation of A Clockwork Orange was accidental. Screenplay writer Terry Southern gave Stanley Kubrick a copy of the novel, but, as he was developing a Napoleon Bonaparterelated project, Kubrick put it aside. Soon afterward, however, the Bonaparte project was cancelled and, sometime later, Kubrick happened upon the novel. It had an immediate impact. Of his enthusiasm for it, Kubrick said, "I was excited by everything about it: The plot, the ideas, the characters, and, of course, the language. The story functions, of course, on several levels: Political, sociological, philosophical, and, what's most important, on a dreamlike psychological-symbolic level". Kubrick wrote a screenplay faithful to the novel, saying, "I think whatever Burgess had to say about the story was said in the book, but I did invent a few useful narrative ideas and reshape some of the scenes.".

Añadir al carritoOriginal LP of Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange. Signed by Anthony Burgess on the front cover. In near fine condition. This is the first record we have seen signed by the creator of the classic novel. The soundtrack of A Clockwork Orange comprises classical music and electronic synthetic music composed by Wendy Carlos (then Walter Carlos). Some of the music is heard only as excerpts, e.g. Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 (aka Land of Hope and Glory) ironically heralding a politician's appearance at the prison. The main theme is an electronic transcription of Henry Purcell's Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary, composed in 1695, for the procession of Queen Mary's cortà ge through London en route to Westminster Abbey. "March from 'A Clockwork Orange'" (based on the choral movement of the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven) was the first recorded song featuring a vocoder for the singing; synthpop bands often cite it as their inspiration. Neither the end credits nor the soundtrack album identify the orchestra playing the Ninth Symphony excerpts, however, in Alex's bedroom, there is a close-up of a microcassette tape labeled: Deutsche Grammophon â" Ludwig van Beethoven â" Symphonie Nr. 9 d-moll, op. 125 â" Berliner Philharmoniker â" Chor der St. Hedwigskathedrale â" Ferenc Fricsay â" Irmgard Seefried, Maureen Forrester, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Ernst Haefliger.
