I am pleased to be able to offer a vintage copy of a signed and numbered photo book titled: The Maine Scene- A Portrait of the State of Maine by Marion J. Bradshaw. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ½ x 9 ½ inches with 177 photo plates and additional text explanations) was apparently self-published by the Author dated 1947 and numbered (copy no. 1637) although with no notation as to if it were also limited and to how many copies. This volume is the third in a series by the Author-all similarly bound; the other two were titled: The Maine Land and The Nature of Maine. It is bound in finely textured black cloth with gilt and green titles on cover and spine. Most of the photo plates are b&w but there are a few in color. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers show some very light edge wear and some dust-dulling. The titles on the spine are also a bit faded. Inside a former owner has left his interesting bookplate and of course there is the Author s signature and book number on the front endpaper. There is also some spotting or foxing or perhaps it is residue from tobacco smoke near some of the glossy photo pages not too many but still there throughout the book. In general, however the interior text pages and photo plates are clean and bright. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
