This Dutch compendium, here translated into German, is a rare and valuable collection of biographical information concerning great admirals and naval heroes of the Age of Exploration. Spine partially a bit brightened and binding minimally rubbed, frontispiece and page 371/372 of the first part missing, margins of allegorical title page with blemishes (outmoust part of the image affected), mounted paper labels on endpapers with old inscriptions in ink, plates and pages darkened, slightly and lightly foxed as well as partially a bit dust stained, some margins and corners with water stains (varying intensity, only lightly darkened, most not wavy and, if at all applicable, text only very slightly affected), page 305/306 with missing corner (ca. 4,5 x 6,5 cm, few words missing), few pages' corners with crease marks or margins with small tears, margins of first pages and some plates with blemishes (images not affected), one double-paged plate with backed defect (image affected, ca. 6 x 2 cm), some of the plates trimmed a bit narrowly in the upper margin. Altogether still good and despite of the shortcomings convincing copy.
