In good condition. Antiquarian ex-library of the University of Bristol s Medical Library, dated March 8th, 1938. Moderate wear to extremities with chipping to edges and corners. Paper soiled and worn with staining. Cloth spine soiled with staining and fading. Spine label tanned with light curling at edges. Front fly has been replaced and repaired nicely in the last century or so. It really good with light toning throughout, minor foxing and areas of patchy age staining. Free of known marginalia. Binding intact. Please see photos. Quite scarce. James O Beirne (1787-1862) was a Dublin-based surgeon who was President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1843. He served in the Royal Artillery and was elected as Surgeon to Jervis Street Hospital in Dublin where he remained from 1819-1832. This is his important monograph on defecation and bowel diseases.
