King (18751949). This is the first book in a series that would later bloom into four volumes and gathers together the legendary origins of orange blossoms, morning glories, Scottish heather, daisies, forget-me-nots, roses, gardenias, myrtle blossoms, and edelweiss, often involving Roman gods and goddesses, fairy queens, magicians, and other figures from Norse, French, and Swiss folklore. These lush and whimsical flower legends are the work of Paolo Mantegazza (18311910), an Italian neurologist, anthropologist, proponent of experimental research with coca leaves, and writer of romantic and futuristic fiction. 7 1/2" X 5". 152pp. Binding designed by Jessie M.
