A rare lithographic print series commemorating the Battle of Kinburn (Kil-Bouroun) on the south bank of the Dnieper River near the Crimea. On 17 October 1855, during the Crimean War, the French and British navies attacked the Russian outpost there with a fleet of ironclad ships, destroying the fortifications within hours and suffering only light damage. This decisive success, seven years before the famous battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack in the American Civil War, heralded the demise of the traditional wooden warship. Though made from the land, mostly after the battle itself, nearly all show maritime scenes, with large and detailed depictions of the ironclad ships on the ice-bound river. They also show the ruined fortifications in great detail. With some marginal tears repaired but still in very good condition, with only an occasional minor spot. The portfolio is also very good, with a couple small water stains on the silk of the front board. Jacottet, the figures being by A. Bayot.

Stampa litografica originale, finemente eseguita alla matita, impressa su carta \"chine\". Sotto la parte figurata, inscritta entro riquadro tipografico, titolo, indicazioni degli artisti e dati di tipografia. Veduta di Porto Maurizio. La trasposizione su lastra spetta a Cuvillier e, per quanto riguarda le figure umane, da Bayot, sulla base di uno schizzo dal vero di Chapuy. Chapuy ottenne grande successo, soprattutto fra gli anni Trenta e Quaranta dell`Ottocento, come illustratore di volumi con vedute e paesaggi della Spagna, della Francia e dell`Italia. Nelle sue tavole litografiche assecondò la moda dell`Orientalismo e il revival dell`architettura medievale. Tavola tratta da rara ed imponente opera di vedutistica italiana del XIX secolo. Esemplare in buono stato conservativo.

Tavola tratta da una delle più importanti raccolte iconografiche sull`Italia del tempo, conosciuta in almeno due stati: quello recante in alto nel margine la dicitura \"Piemont\", e altro recante dicitura \"Torino\". La tavola in esame rappresenta la passeggiata collinare dei Torinesi nel parco della seicentesca Villa della Regina, allora detta \"Vigna della Regina\"; sullo sfondo è delineata una veduta panoramica di Torino. La litografia spetta a tre abili artefici francesi: l`esecuzione delle architetture e degli elementi paesaggistici spetta a Jacottet, l`animazione di figure umane in costume ottocentesco a Bayot, mentre il disegno preparatorio dal vero è di Benoist. Esemplare in buono stato conservativo.
