Vladislav Vancura (1891-1942) was a Czech novelist, film director, playwright, and screenwriter. He was known for the following films: Pred maturitou (1932); Láska a lidé (1937); Nasi furianti (1937). Vancura was active in the Czech underground resistance and was killed by the Nazi Gestapo. This book contains six illustrations by Czech painter and illustrator Adolf Born (1930-2016). Born was also involved in film. His art often mixes fantasy worlds, people, and animals.
