Three of four reproduction colour prints in envelope at the back are missing. Hinges firm. This isn't the first book the authors wrote about Hong Kong. They'd fallen in love with the country, despite John being interred there at the Stanley POW camp during WWII. They self-published this one, which must have been an expensive undertaking! Size: 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Book.

John Stericker's "pre-war assignment to China on the management of large British-owned cigarette factories forms the basis of this book. He looks back with nostalgia on the China that expatriates loved so well, and from the time he stepped on to the Trans-Siberian Express to the moment he entered a Japanese internment camp in Hongkong he travelled with a suitcase and a chuckle. He admits that things were not always amusing, but even internment had its funny side as the second half of this book discloses, although tragedy, too, is not spared us.".
