Eric Milou

Eric Milou, Ed.D., is a Professor of Mathematics at Rowan University, where he has served on the faculty since 1997. With more than twenty-five years of experience in mathematics education, his work focuses on curriculum transformation, high school mathematics reform, and improving coherence in mathematics. Milou is widely recognized for promoting modernized, equitable, and engaging mathematics pathways, and he regularly presents nationally on the urgent need to redesign the status quo in mathematics education.

Milou is an active leader in the mathematics education community. He is the Founding Executive Director of the New Jersey Association of Supervisors and Leaders and previously served as Executive Director of the New Jersey Math & Science Education Coalition. His national service includes roles such as President of the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New Jersey, Regional Director for the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, and Chairperson for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Annual Meeting Program. He has delivered more than two decades of invited presentations at NCTM conferences, Teachers Teaching with Technology International Conferences, and the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics.

His published work includes numerous peer-reviewed articles and more than a dozen books. Major publications include Invigorating High School Math (Heinemann, 2021), Catalyzing Change in Middle School Mathematics (NCTM, 2020), the Daily Routines to Jump-Start Math Class series (Corwin, 2018), and multiple Savvas textbook series such as enVision Mathematics. His research has appeared in Mathematics Teacher: Learning & Teaching PK–12, School Science and Mathematics, Mathematics Teacher, and international journals.

Milou’s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Max Sobel Outstanding Mathematics Educator Award and multiple Rowan University Wall of Fame for Excellence in Teaching honors.

He earned his Ed.D. in Mathematics Education from Temple University, his M.A. in Mathematics from West Chester University, and his B.A. in Mathematics from Franklin & Marshall College.
