Rob Wiggz

Born in Jersey City, N.J., Rob Wiggz grew up in Curries Woods Public Housing. He may not have had a lot of money but had a wealth of love and support from family and friends.

Rob’s father has been incarcerated since he was 3 years old and his mom died of AIDS when he was just eight. Raised by his grandmother, he spent most of his youth working odd jobs to make sure they had enough to get by. Shoveling snow, washing car windows, cleaning restaurant parking lots — Rob was even bagging groceries by ten years old. The arts were Rob’s escape from the violence and adversity so common in his city. He made music, wrote and performed plays for his church. But he had a particular interest in the enthralling writing styles and illustrations of children’s book authors like Dr. Seuss and P.D. Eastman.

Rob combined his education in nutrition with his childhood passion to write Good Veggie, Bad Veggie, I Hate All Veggies. With a kid who struggled to eat vegetables, Rob and his wife came up with creative ways to grab their kid’s interest in eating vegetables. He writes for his wife, his children, and to show all those kids growing up similar to him how important it is to stay healthy and have a positive outlook on life.
