Mary Clancy

Mary Clancy was born in Tipperary in Ireland. She lives with her family in Co. Kildare where she worked as a professional social worker for many years.

Mary writes historical family sagas, set mainly in Ireland. Her characters are people who strive to overcome what life has thrown at them. Her books are published by Poolbeg Press. Published in September 2020 during lockdown, her debut novel “The Blue Washing Bag” features Daisy, abandoned as an infant at the side of the street, intent on finding those responsible - demanding retribution.

Mary’s second book “Between Love And Betrayal" published by Poolbeg Press in 2022, is a sweeping love saga featuring Connie Stapleton and Lucrezia Romano who fall in love in 1926. Darlene, a determined young American, intervenes to help them overcome the obstacles they are faced with- she encourages the involvement of two teenagers whose lives will never be the same again.

Mary’s third book - The Pretend Daughters” was released by Poolbeg Press in July 2023.

Eunice feels that the baby girl placed in her arms is not hers. She remains silent about her fears and takes the baby home. Years later she is faced with the truth.
