Dan Nelson

Dan Nelson is an author specializing in Christian and, particularly, Baptist History. He served as pastor of three churches in his career. Dan has also written several books and has just published his seventh book: " Nelson's Notes on Christian History." He has contributed to many blogs and Baptist History groups on Facebook and other Internet sites with articles on biographies and various subjects, primarily in Baptist History and Theology. Dan's background with two earned doctorates, a dissertation, and a major in Church History has contributed to his love of history and writing in that subject.

Dan has also taught Church History in a Bible College and in the churches he has served as pastor. His knowledge of Church History has allowed him to be a ready resource for many in his interactions with them on the internet and the Baptist groups on social media he is a part of regarding Baptist History.

After five decades of serving churches as pastor and in other denominational positions, Dan has retired from a full-time pastorate in Southern California to devote more time to writing and possibly teaching in colleges or seminaries. He and his wife Janice have moved to Live Oak, Texas where they live close to both daughters and their family in the San Antonio area.

Dan loves writing and contributes almost daily to his like page on Facebook and profile with short devotional thoughts and historical biographies.

Dan's most recent book was published, Nelson's Notes on Christian History" From the Early Church to the Present Day." The book is extensive and specific concerning the major movements and individuals of the Christian Movement. The book is over 20 years in the making since Dan Nelson added to his notes through the decades he has used to teach the subject. In the 25 chronological chapters, Nelson explains what the Christian movement was and is to the present day. He exposes, defines, and explains eras, leaders, theological issues, controversies, and contrasts. The book becomes a ready reference and interesting narrative by using it as a study guide and enlightenment about these subjects. .

Dan's most popular book to date is "A Burning and Shining Light: The Testimony and Witness of George Whitefield " which chronicles the biography of the famous Eighteenth-Century Evangelist. It debuted on the Top Twenty in Amazon's "Hot New Releases" in the History section.
