Gary Vincent

Gary Vincent is a retired law enforcement officer whose career was spent working cases that required patience, precision, and attention to detail—skills that would later define his personal search for identity.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1957 and adopted at a young age, he grew up in southeastern Wisconsin, later building a life in Illinois with his wife, Terri, and their dog, Bailey Rose. For much of his adult life, he lived with unanswered questions about his origins.

In 1992, after a serious work injury forced him to step away from his career, Gary began a decades-long search for his birth family. What started as curiosity became a sustained investigation—through records requests, social workers, and eventually DNA testing—that would span more than twenty-five years.

That search led to the discovery of biological relatives he never knew existed, as well as the truth about his birth parents and early life. The experience reshaped his understanding of identity, memory, and family.

Finding Vincent: My Journey of Adoption, Discovery and Reunion is his first book, chronicling that search and the emotional reality of what it means to uncover the past while rebuilding the present.
