Scott D. Lane, Ph.D., is Professor and Vice Chair for Research, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center - Houston McGovern Medical School. He is the laboratory director for the Center for Neurobehavioral Research on Addictions (CNRA), a National Institutes of Health 'Center of Excellence' P50 award center. Dr. Lane has been funded continuously by The National Institutes of Health since 1998, and has over 120 publications. He serves as a member of the Neuroscience Program faculty of the UTHSC-Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS), where he has taught courses and mentored MD and PhD students for over a decade. He received the 2014 John P. McGovern award for outstanding teaching at the GSBS. Dr. Lane's research utilizes techniques from neuroscience and the behavioral sciences to investigate problems of impulse control, decision-making, and attention, with a focus on addiction and (frequently co-occurring) mental disorders. An advocate of scientific collaboration, Dr. Lane actively works with colleagues at Baylor College of Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Duke University, Mt. Sinai Medical School, University of Texas Medical Branch - Galveston, and Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
