L'interpretazione hegeliana, che vede in Rameau una figura della coscienza, se da un lato fece scuola individuando la struttura dialettica del romanzo, dall'altro lato mise in secondo piano la dimensione corporea del protagonista. Per dare il giusto valore alla pantomima recitata da Rameau, e alle posture corporee che egli assume dialogando col filosofo-moi, occorre indagare la dimensione transartistica del concetto di "position" (al centro del romanzo) tra teatro, pittura e danza; indagine che può mettere in evidenza il rapporto tra rappresentazione artistica e concezione antropologica del tempo, fortemente caratterizzata da un modello corporeo bio-energetico, introdotto dai medici-filosofi vitalisti della scuola di Montpellier. I saggi raccolti in questi due volumi nascono da una iniziativa dell'Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici che ha voluto ricordare Ernesto Grassi.
