Sinopsis:

Captain Evgeny Lerner was already struggling to maintain his mastery of the pirate starship Scape Grace and her crew of pan-galactic rogues.  He just wanted to guide her toward profit and away from disaster, by navigating the shrinking shadows of an expanding galactic Collective.  Stuck with a giant, violent, authoritarian first mate; a half-computer communications officer; a xenophobic ship's doctor; a psychotic, saurian weapons officer; a genetically engineered engineer torn from his collectivist species; and a combat crew culled from the worst refuse of two systems, Captain Lerner faced plenty of challenges.  But when a raid went wrong and Scape Grace was caught defenseless, they found themselves pressed into service escorting a lost ship from an unknown alien race.  The unique ship with an untranslatable name proved that even in an increasingly civilized galaxy, surrounded by some of its oddest renegades, a weary ship's captain could still be surprised by something new.

Acerca de los autores: Nathan's writing is informed by a doctorate in Cognitive Psychology from the University at Buffalo, more than twenty years writing and storytelling in a variety of role-playing formats, and a lifelong fascination with mythology both historic and modern. His science fiction work is primarily set in the Empyrean Dreams universe created by co-writer Laine Lundquist, but also includes short stories, a 'hard' sci-fi novel and two science fantasy novels in progress. He also writes fantasy, weird horror, short essays, and 'new mythology', and presents retellings of classic mythology for public gatherings. Nathan is a practicing Pagan, skilled home cook, and gaming enthusiast (RP, board, video, logic, wordplay, etc.). He lives with his wife, Alicia, in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Laine Lundquist is a dreamer who has drifted across this and possibly other worlds in her time on Earth. She was raised by anthropologists in the frozen hinterlands of Western New York and grew up in in a long series of highly unlikely environments. She is a compulsive and sometimes impulsive blogger (Most recently writing about Pagan-related subjects at The Lady's Quill). She serves her spiritual communities as a seeress and a priestess of Freyja, amidst the mists of the San Fransisco Bay. Her other partner, Sonyja, who has helped significantly with editing of the Empyrean stories, is a writer, a programmer, and a Nerd-Dis who lives in the wilds of Quebec.
