Acerca de los autores: Rainer F. Buschmann is professor and founding faculty member in the history program at the California State University, Channel Islands. He has published Oceans in World History, Anthropology's Global Histories: The Ethnographic Frontier in German New Guinea, 1870-1935, Iberian Visions of the Pacific Ocean, 1507-1899, and the co-authored Navigating the Spanish Lake: The Pacific in the Iberian World, 1521-1898. In addition to his publications, Professor Buschmann edits the world history section of the History Compass and is co-editor of a new book series entitled "Nebraska Studies in Pacific World."

Lance Nolde is assistant professor in the history program at California State University, Channel Islands. He completed his doctorate in Southeast Asian history at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and was a postdoctoral research fellow at the International Institute for Asian Studies in Leiden, The Netherlands in 2014-2015. His current book project, provisionally entitled Changing Tides, explores the history of the semi-nomadic Sama Bajo and their important position within the social, political, and economic networks that spanned maritime Southeast Asia between the 14th and 19th centuries.
