The reader is organized chronologically, but also provides an alternate topical table of contents, which allows instructors and students to compare sources across cultures and time periods. A new section, "Using This Book", serves as a guide to the many tools and resources offered in the text by providing readers with suggested ways to employ all of the book's features, including analyzing sources and context.
