Do you know a child who is scared or feels uneasy during thunderstorms?
The Wonder of Thunder is a lighthearted children’s rhyming picture book about weather that helps tame fears while highlighting all the wondrous things thunderstorms can do.
Children will adore Sally Storm, a lovable character who excitedly shares all the good she can do as she swirls and tumbles overhead. This early learning picture book introduces the topic of storms, thunder, lightning and rain in a fun and non-threatening way making it the perfect thunderstorm book for kids.
Colourful and captivating illustrations pull children into the story and hold their attention through to the end, where Sally shares more fun facts about thunderstorms and engages children through direct questions.
This book is a terrific resource for parents and teachers who wish to introduce children to the topic of thunderstorms and start a conversation about weather and nature. It's also a junior picture book that makes designing a lesson plan around the topic of thunderstorms easy for preschool and elementary teachers.
The Wonder of Thunder is the perfect gift book for toddlers and children who are afraid of thunderstorms. A wonderful book to share at springtime or any season of the year.
And after sharing this story, don’t be surprised if the next time the sky roars, the kids look up and say “that’s Sally!”
This book has been translated into Spanish under the title: Lo bueno del trueno
It has also been translated into French under the title: La Merveille du Tonnerre
Acerca del autor: Sharon Purtill was a stay at home mom and entrepreneur when she stumbled into publishing in 1998. That year, along with her husband, she wrote and published her first book. That book's success took them both by surprise when it went on to sell tens of thousands of copies right out of their garage. Today, Sharon is an award winning author who publishes in multiple genres under a couple of different pseudonyms. Her passion for writing, family and a positive life motivates her to create books that she hopes will enrich the lives of others. She hopes to one day escape the cold, and write from a tropical beach somewhere where her biggest concerns will be sand sticking to her suntan lotion and an empty margarita glass. But, for now, Sharon treasures the warm summer months and the time she gets to spend with family and friends in Ontario, Canada.
