Stone is the silent narrator of our planet's history, preserving the raw, unwritten forces of nature and humanity's oldest architectural triumphs. From deep geological formations to ancient megaliths, stone bridges the gap between the earth's natural beauty and our enduring creative spirit
Read about such subjects as prehistoric, and often huge, stones at such places as Carnac in Brittany and ExterneSteine in Germany, with its carvings on the impressive rock formations.
Included are single stones such as the London Stone, King Arthur's Stone, and the recent story of the Stonehenge Altar Stone. Also stone mazes, statues such as the Venus de Milo, grave stones like that of Edgar Allan Poe. A special chapter is that of the Apprentice Pillar in Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland made famous in the Da Vinci Code.
