Paperback. "Wings of Sunset" is a poignant collection of verse by Ina Coolbrith, the celebrated first Poet Laureate of California. This posthumous volume captures the lyrical grace and emotional depth that defined Coolbrith's long and distinguished career. The poems within explore themes of nature, memory, and the enduring beauty of the American West, reflecting a life deeply intertwined with the cultural landscape of San Francisco and the wider California coast.Coolbrith's mastery of form and her ability to evoke vivid imagery are on full display, whether she is describing the golden hills of her home state or the shifting colors of a twilight sky. Known for her role as a central figure in the literary circles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, her work remains a testament to the power of traditional lyricism. Readers will find in "Wings of Sunset" a legacy of literary excellence, offering a window into the soul of a writer who shaped the poetic identity of a region. This collection serves as a fitting tribute to her craft, preserving her voice for poetry lovers and scholars of Western American literature. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
