Paperback. Four widows. Four deaths. One sentence hidden in four condolence letters.Forensic accountant Janelle Carter has endured the dignified transfer, the flag-draped casket, the battalion's salute, and the official explanation for the death of her husband, CW3 Marcus Carter, an Army aviation maintenance test pilot. What she cannot accept is being treated as a dependent who should be grateful for ceremony and stop asking professional questions. Months later, she notices an oddly technical sentence in the commander's condolence letter sent after Marcus's death: "His final act protected Soldiers he never met."The same sentence appears in letters received by three other military widows whose husbands died in different commands and seemingly unrelated incidents. Danielle Price is raising two children after a training death. Engineer Mei Sullivan has access to senior military networks but not the answers she was promised. Auto technician Rosa Alvarez kept the fractured component her husband mailed home before he died. Together, the four women compare documents, timelines, and the final weeks of their husbands' lives-and someone breaks into Janelle's home to steal the original letter.Janelle turns to Elias Grant, a former Army CID special agent now investigating management failure and contractor oversight as a Department of the Army civilian. Elias closed an earlier related inquiry after accepting laboratory results he now suspects were manipulated. He cannot simply reopen homicides or command the agencies involved, but he can help the widows preserve evidence and trace lawful referrals. Their investigation leads to Sentinel Aeronautics, a powerful defense contractor connected to each death and to falsified testing on components still in military service. As present-day sabotage threatens another flight, professional respect between Janelle and Elias deepens into a slow-burn attraction neither will allow to compromise the case. The Widow's Battalion combines military conspiracy, investigative suspense, found family, and an emotionally mature romance that honors grief instead of treating new love as a replacement for the dead. Grounded in casualty procedures, aviation oversight, accident and criminal investigative boundaries, contractor accountability, and the real agency of military spouses, the novel is ideal for readers who enjoy capable widows, defense-industry conspiracies, coded documents, investigator heroes, high-stakes evidence hunts, and romance built through respect and shared risk. These women were never members of the same unit, but the truth will make them a battalion of their own. When a cryptic phrase appears in multiple condolence letters, a group of grieving spouses joins forces to expose a lethal defense contractor conspiracy. They must hunt for the truth before the next fatal accident occurs. This item is printed on demand.
