Working in Christian ministry for more than thirty years, Stephen D. McConnell has stood alongside members of his congregations as they enjoyed many of life’s great moments – marriage, childbirth, graduations, anniversaries – and suffered through the difficult ones – illness, divorce, depression, grief. McConnell, like all pastors, has seen good things happen to bad people, and bad things happen to good people. And through it all, the repeated question has been: why? When the Wind is Against You is an outstretched hand to anyone who has ever felt overcome by discouragement. Each chapter provides an inspirational message with uplifting stories that will help you rise to meet life’s challenges and remind you that, even where there is pain, there is always hope for something better, and always room for faith. Taking a fresh look at spirituality, When the Wind is Against You focuses on grace and joy, not guilt and remorse, to deliver practical principles for daily living that can help you get the most out of your life. McConnell’s insights and recommendations, based upon his weekly preaching, are grounded in classical theology, and presented in a highly readable form that Christian readers will recognize, and by which they will be comforted, nourished, and encouraged to endure.
Acerca del autor: Fourth-generation Presbyterian pastor Stephen D. McConnell is the weekly preacher at Church of the Palms in Sarasota, Florida. He has been working in Christian ministry for approximately thirty years, during which time he has pastored three churches, including his current post, and touched the lives of many people as they journeyed through the trials and tribulations of life and formed deeper relationships with God. McConnell is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary with a doctorate from the Caspersen School of Graduate Studies at Drew University. His first book, Take Me to Aslan, is a study on C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. His second book, When the Wind is Against You, brings comfort and hope and delivers practical principles for daily living that will help readers overcome adversity, rise from despair, and strengthen their faith.
