Imagine driving down the highway and seeing a tunnel up ahead… As you enter the tunnel, the light quickly fades behind you. You can’t turn around, so you keep moving forward. Soon the light behind you is gone… What’s worse is there’s no way to measure your progress. You could be halfway through, almost through, or still in the early stages. There’s nothing to do but keep moving.Leaving a ministry position means change—and lots of it. Regardless of what led to this ending (a health crisis, a new calling, educational needs, a death, an unresolvable conflict), you are having to leave a familiar way of life—a life where you knew your purpose and calling—and follow God into something new and unknown.Wherever you are in your “tunnel,” this devotional holds something for you specifically. With her characteristic compassion and wisdom, author Tanya Lyons offers ten weeks of daily meditations taken from the life of Jesus that speak directly to the challenges, hopes, heartaches, and fears of those beginning a new season of life: a season with lots of unknowns. Short scripture readings pair with insightful reflections, key takeaways, and action steps to help you adjust to the changing landscape of your new life. As you take each step down this path, may you find peace and clarity in these pages. Whether your steps are stumbling, hesitant, or bold, may you feel the hand of your Saviour holding yours as you navigate the darkness together. One day, the light will grow and the darkness will fade, and your time in the tunnel will seem like a distant memory.
