What Are You Doing Here? is a heartwarming, funny, and colorful picture book set deep in the magical Florida Everglades — where fish, alligators, birds, and more ask each other one big question: “What are you doing here?”

With playful and curious conversations, each animal shares their special role in the wild, showing young readers that everyone has a purpose — and that without one, the others wouldn’t thrive.

But this isn’t just a nature story. It’s a joyful, silly, and meaningful celebration of love, laughter, and the beauty of being exactly who you are.

Written by Sonia Pillon, a Florida Everglades adventurer and storyteller, this book captures the wonder of wildlife and the importance of belonging. Sonia and her husband live in the Everglades and spend their days exploring the land that inspired this beautiful book.

Bright, happy, and full of heart and humor, What Are You Doing Here? helps children ages 3 to 8:

• Build confidence and self-worth

• Understand how nature is connected

• Celebrate kindness, curiosity, and purpose — while laughing along the way

Whether it’s story time at home, a classroom circle, or a special bedtime read, this book opens up meaningful conversations with kids — and leaves them with giggles and a heart full of wonder.

Because knowing why you’re here… makes all the difference.
