Neuware - 'What the Queen Said' is a delightful collection of light verse and humorous poetry from the pen of Stoddard King, one of the early 20th century's most celebrated wits. Known for his ability to find humor in both the mundane and the profound, King presents a series of rhythmic and clever observations that capture the spirited intellect of the 1920s. The poems within this volume range from satirical commentary on social norms to whimsical explorations of everyday life, all delivered with a masterly touch of meter and rhyme.Throughout this collection, King showcases the lyrical talent that made him a beloved figure in American letters, blending sharp intellect with a gentle, engaging playfulness. The work stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic light verse, offering readers a window into the sophisticated humor of the American jazz age. Whether poking fun at contemporary foibles or weaving intricate tales through song-like stanzas, the author maintains a charm that is both characteristic of its era and timelessly entertaining.
