For every L&D leader who has finished the frameworks course and then faced the real work.

The ISO standards for organizational learning are rigorous, internationally validated, and widely cited. ISO 10015. ISO 30401. ISO 30422. The frameworks are clear. Implementation guides exist. Consultants will certify you.

So why does the work still stall?

In What the Framework Can't Teach You, Nabil Zary follows L&D specialist Maja Lindqvist through the implementation gap. The territory between knowing what the standard requires and building something that can survive your own departure.

When Norrvalla Regional Medical Center commits to ISO-aligned learning infrastructure, Maja discovers that the obstacles aren't technical. They live in the spaces standards don't address:

• Organizational politics that resist measurement
• Competency gaps hidden behind credentialing paperwork
• Leadership that wants outcome proof, no learning system can honestly provide
• The relentless pressure of a healthcare environment where today's crisis always outweighs tomorrow's capability

This is not a methodology book. It's a practitioner's companion, for people who already have the frameworks and are now doing the harder work of making them real.

Maja's navigation of resistance, resource constraints, measurement pressure, and the fundamental question, what can we actually prove? offers what no standard can: an honest account of what it actually requires to build sustainable learning capability.

You'll find practical insight on:

• Diagnosing why ISO implementation stalls beyond technical compliance
• Building measurement systems that survive political scrutiny
• Managing stakeholder expectations when learning ROI is genuinely hard to prove
• Maintaining capability infrastructure during operational crises
• The difference between an L&D function that exists and one that can outlast its architect

For: L&D directors and managers, HR leaders implementing ISO or competency frameworks, healthcare education coordinators, organizational development consultants, and anyone trying to make systematic capability-building stick in a resource-constrained environment.

What the Framework Can't Teach You is the companion book to the standards themselves.
The conversation that happens after the certification course ends.
