Noor Haddad works nights in the emergency department at Bellhaven General, and she's good at it - good enough that nobody has noticed she stopped feeling things somewhere around year three. She kept working. That's the whole story.
Her New Year's resolution was to do one thing that wasn't a shift. The matchmaker on Cobble Street took under an hour.
Three questions, one match, no refunds, and thirty days of good-faith courtship before either party may walk away.
The card said Bram Odell. Search and rescue, Greenhollow, werewolf - and he's been carrying people into her trauma bay at four in the morning for years. He can tell she hasn't eaten. He can tell she's been crying in the stairwell. He remembers the worst night of her life in detail.
She has no memory of him at all.
He also has a rut coming on the thirtieth. Fifteen of them, four days each, and he has spent every single one alone in a cabin with the door shut - because he is the man everybody calls, and he has never once asked anybody for anything.
He's about to ask her.
The question isn't whether she'd be safe up there. She would be, and she knows it. The question is whether there's anyone left inside her to send.
Fated & Co. has never made a bad match.
