Neuware - 'Wagner in Exile' provides a detailed and scholarly examination of one of the most transformative periods in the life of the revolutionary composer Richard Wagner. Following his involvement in the 1849 May Uprising in Dresden, Wagner was forced into a decade-long exile that saw him flee to Switzerland and navigate a precarious existence across Europe. This work, authored by Woldemar Lippert and translated by Paul England, delves into the political, personal, and artistic repercussions of this turbulent era.The book explores the circumstances of Wagner's flight and his subsequent struggles with financial instability and social isolation. Despite these challenges, the period of exile proved to be remarkably fertile for his creative genius, laying the groundwork for some of his most monumental achievements, including his prose works and the early conceptualizations of 'The Ring of the Nibelung'. Through meticulous research and historical documentation, the authors trace Wagner's interactions with contemporary figures and the evolution of his aesthetic theories.A vital resource for musicologists and historians alike, 'Wagner in Exile' offers a compelling portrait of a man whose artistic vision remained undimmed by political castigation. It stands as an essential study of the intersection between 19th-century European politics and the development of modern opera. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
