Newlywed Elisabeth Allerton gladly accompanies her husband, David, aboard a ship bound for opportunities in the New World. Hundreds of Puritans have already made this journey safely, and this midwife expects no less. Surely, this is God's will for her life. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Elisabeth's beliefs shatter when she is kidnapped by a desperate French captain headed for the West Indies. Elisabeth's only allies are cynical seaman Colin Richardson, whom she relies on as her French translator, and a drunken doctor named Stillingfleet. With scarce resources, she determines to find a path back to her husband, almost two thousand miles away. Every decision she makes sinks her faith deeper into the sandy beaches of a Caribbean island. Who will receive unexpected riches in this novel set in 1665-1666?

C.S. Boyll, a journalist and fiction writer, lives near Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado. This is her debut historical novel.
