"ON FAMILY : "I grew up observing how the love and common sense of purpose that unites families is one of the most powerful glues on earth and that it can help them overcome the greatest of adversities." ON PRAYER: "You can't ask to win, but you can ask that He help you to do your best and, having done your best, you'll have no regrets no matter how it turns out, and you will be content with the outcome. Just may it be the best one." ON AMERICA: "I have always wondered at this American marvel, the great energy of the human soul that drives people to better themselves and improve the fortunes of their families and their communities. Indeed, I know of no greater force on earth." ON POLITICS: " There are two ways of doing things: the right way, and the way they do it in Washington." ON NANCY: If ever God gave me evidence that He had a plan for me, it was the night H e brought Nancy into my life." ON HIMSELF: "I wasn't a great communicator, but I communicated great things, and they didn't spring full blown from my brow, they came from the heart of a great nation - from our experience, our wisdom, and our belief in the principles that have guided us for two centuries. They called it the Reagan Revolution. Well, I'll accept that, but for me it always seemed more like the great rediscovery of our values and our common sense." - from the rear outer jacket. "Ronald Reagan is one of our most beloved Presidents. With boundless optimism and faith in the spirit of democracy, Reagan has always spoken directly to the heart of the AMerican people, with a special insight into the problems, wishes, and dreams of our time. Witty, candid, and full of hope for the future, Ronald Reagan was known as "The Great Communicator," a reputation confirmed in THe Uncommon Wisdom of Roanald Reagan, a remarkable collection of quotations that articulates his abiding convictions and unwavering commitment to American principles. These pages bring Ronald Reagan vividly to life in his own words, visiting the milestones of his career from his early days as an actor in radio, television, and films to his political years, first as governor of California and ultimately as President of the United States. Reagan also speaks openly about his pesonal life: his family, his childhood, his marriage, and his thoughts on what it meant to be a leader during a difficult age. This unique compilation is a stirring tribute to one of this century's most extraordinary personalities and the enduring humor, grace, and wisdom that have earned him a place of honor in the memory of America." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.…

Descripción de la tienda
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
