Print on Demand. This book transports readers to the heart of the African frontier in the early twentieth century, a time when conflict and opportunity were intertwined. The author, a man of keen observation and literary skill, shares the remarkable story of Johann Keim, a man caught in a web of complicated moral dilemmas. Keimââ â¢s journey takes him from the wild gold rush days of Idaho to the diamond mines of South Africa, where he finds himself entangled in a conspiracy involving a native worker, a stolen diamond, and a persistent blackmailer. His internal struggle between loyalty to his family and the lure of wealth exposes the raw realities of life on the frontier, a place where survival and morality often clash. The book vividly captures the volatile mix of greed, desperation, and racial tensions that define life in this harsh and unforgiving environment. Keimââ â¢s tale offers a compelling glimpse into the social and economic dynamics of the era, exploring themes of colonialism, exploitation, and the enduring human desire for prosperity. Through his richly drawn characters and vivid descriptions, the author invites us to contemplate the intricate moral landscape of the time and the choices individuals make when forced to confront ethical crossroads. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Born the same year, taught their elementary schooling by the same wandering teacher, partaking Of their first nachtmaal on the same solemn Sun day, they had been friends from youth. Both loved the quiet and isolation of their native land with its far-flung reaches of virgin soil; they were men who lived and thought close to nature. Both were deeply religious, their knee patches bearing eloquent if mute testimony to their long and fervent prayers. To both, life was a serious business to be wrought out well in silence and communion with the Word. They loved deeply and quietly, but hated wrong and injustice with a hardness that bit deep like iron. In the course Of time they married, as they did other things, thoughtfully, cleanly, but still silently, without demonstration, and life flowed on.
